Looking for volleyball betting markets and odds? You just found them. Virgin Bet covers everything from Match Winner and set betting to handicaps, totals, outrights, and selected live markets, with competitive volleyball betting odds across the action.
Better still, everything is set up for South Africa, with secure Rand (ZAR) sports betting and easy access from mobile or desktop.
Some volleyball markets cover the whole tournament. Others focus on a single match, a single set, or even points scored. Here’s how the main options differ:
These are outright volleyball betting markets, so they look beyond a single match. With Tournament Winner, you’re backing the team you think will go all the way and win the competition.
Finishing Position is a little different: instead of picking the champion, you're betting on where a team will finish in the competition. The exact options depend on what's available for that tournament.
You can also check Virgin Bet’s dedicated volleyball betting section for additional specials and markets when they are available.
Match Winner lets you bet on a team to win the match. Set volleyball betting zooms in. You might be backing the winner of a particular set or, depending on the market, the final set score of the match.
That distinction matters when betting on volleyball. A team can lose one or even two sets and still win a best-of-five match. So, a Set Winner bet can be settled long before the overall Match Winner is decided.
Handicap markets give the teams a virtual advantage or disadvantage for betting purposes. For example, a team at -1.5 sets would need to win by at least two sets for that handicap selection to win.
Handicaps can also be applied to points rather than sets, depending on the market. When betting on online volleyball, check which side the handicap applies to before placing your bet.
Total Points takes a different approach. Instead of choosing who wins, you’re betting on whether the total points scored by both teams will go over or under a line set by the sportsbook.
In sports like soccer and handball, the equivalent of a Total Points market is usually called Total Goals.
From continental championships to global tournaments, volleyball has plenty of big events on the calendar. As with tennis betting, you’ll come across match, set, handicap, totals, and outright markets when available.
The European Championship, or EuroVolley, brings national teams together to compete for the continental title.
You can find volleyball betting odds on individual fixtures and, where offered, markets covering the tournament as a whole. That gives you the choice between backing a single match and following a team throughout the competition.
The Olympics and World Championship take international volleyball to a global stage. The indoor format stays familiar, with matches played over a maximum of five sets, so the same core markets can still apply.
That means betting on volleyball here can cover anything from Match Winner and individual sets to handicaps, totals, and tournament outrights, depending on what’s listed.
Start with the scope of the market. Is your bet on the whole match, one set, a points total, or the tournament? They can all sit next to each other on the same fixture but settle on completely different outcomes.
The same strategy works when you're betting on basketball and other sports at Virgin Bet.
The scoring format matters, too. In indoor volleyball, the first four sets are played to 25 points, while the deciding fifth set is played to 15. Every set still requires a two-point winning margin. That means 25 isn’t necessarily the end of a set if the teams are tied late on.
Volleyball uses rally scoring, so every rally produces a point regardless of which team served. That’s useful context when you’re looking at point handicaps and Total Points markets rather than simply picking the match winner.
Also, before betting on volleyball, don’t assume indoor and beach volleyball are interchangeable. Beach volleyball uses two players per team and a best-of-three format, rather than six players and best of five. Its first two sets go to 21 points, with a deciding third played to 15, and a two-point winning margin is still required.
Before the first serve, you’re working with pre-match markets. Once play starts, online volleyball betting can continue through Virgin Bet’s In-Play section when live markets are available.
That’s where you’ll see the current volleyball betting odds and whatever markets are open at that point in the match. Prices can move as the score changes, and some markets may appear or disappear as play progresses, so work with what’s on screen at the time.

Whatever you’re backing, keep it sensible. Virgin Bet’s A Good Bet hub has responsible gambling tools and support to help you stay in control.
A set handicap gives one team a virtual advantage or disadvantage. Back -1.5 sets, for example, and your team needs to win by at least two sets for the bet to land.
Sometimes. Set Winner markets may be available live, depending on the match and what Virgin Bet lists in-play during the broadcast.
The volleyball betting works much the same way, but the match formats are different. Indoor volleyball is six-a-side and best of five sets, while beach volleyball is two-a-side and best of three. That changes how set, handicap, and points markets are structured.
A spread is another name for a handicap. It gives one team a virtual advantage or deficit in sets or points, and the adjusted result determines whether the bet wins. Players must be 18+
