Looking for futsal betting markets in South Africa? We’ve got you covered, bafethu. Virgin Bet covers major international futsal leagues and events, with markets ranging from familiar options like Match Winner to more specific bets such as player props. Selected matches are available for live betting, too.
Competitive futsal betting odds, a wide range of markets, and regular promotions: that’s what you can expect at Virgin Bet SA. But we don’t stop there. We make your futsal betting experience as smooth as possible, with Android and iOS mobile apps, local payment methods, and place your bets in South African Rand (ZAR).
Betting on futsal matches at Virgin Bet takes just three steps:
Already have a Virgin Bet account? Log in and open the sportsbook. If not, register first and follow the prompts to set up your account.
Scroll down the sports menu, select Futsal, and choose a competition or match. You'll see the markets currently available.
Pick your markets and tap the futsal betting odds to add your selection to the bet slip. Enter your stake in Rand, check the potential return, and confirm your bet.
Virgin Bet automatically displays futsal betting odds in decimal format. Decimal odds show your total potential return for every R1 staked, including your original stake. For example, a winning R1,000 bet at 1.50 returns R1,500.
Now, what can you actually back?
Match Winner lets you back the team you expect to win. Tournament markets are longer-term. Instead of betting on futsal one game at a time, they offer options like league winner, team to reach the finals, and top goalscorer.
Handicap futsal betting gives one team a virtual head start or deficit. Back a team at -1.5, and they must win by at least two goals for the bet to land. Take +1.5, and the team can win, draw, or lose by one goal, and your bet still wins.
Here, you bet on the total number of goals scored by both teams. If the line is 6.5, for example, Over needs seven or more goals. Under wins with six or fewer. Simple.
Already kicked off? You haven't necessarily missed your chance, bafethu. Virgin Bet offers selected futsal betting markets in-play.
Head to the In-Play section to see the matches and markets currently on offer. Live futsal betting and odds update as the game unfolds, so check the latest prices before placing your bet.
Browser or app? Your call.
Virgin Bet's mobile-optimised site lets you access the sportsbook from your phone or tablet without installing anything. But if you want a dedicated app instead, Android and iOS versions are also available, so your futsal betting markets, bet slip, deposits, withdrawals, and account are all within easy reach.
It looks like football squeezed into a smaller court, but it’s definitely not.
Five-a-side teams, rolling substitutions, kick-ins instead of throw-ins, no offside, and a stopped clock all give futsal its own rhythm. Those differences matter when you're betting on futsal.
Futsal is played with five players per team on the court: one goalkeeper and four outfield players. There’s no offside, substitutions can be made on a rolling basis, and when the ball crosses the touchline, play restarts with a kick-in rather than a throw-in.
That’s quite a shift from traditional 11-a-side soccer, so don’t assume the two games work the same way just because both have a ball and two goals.
A standard futsal match has two 20-minute halves. But those are 20 minutes of actual playing time: the clock stops when the ball goes out, or play is interrupted, and starts again when play resumes.
If a competition requires a winner and the scores are level, extra time and, if necessary, penalties may be used. The exact extra-time format may vary by competition, so check the relevant rules before placing your bet.
There isn't one structure for every futsal competition. Domestic leagues can use regular-season tables and playoffs, while major international tournaments commonly combine a group stage with knockout rounds. FIFA competitions, for example, have used group stages followed by elimination matches.
That opens up different options for futsal betting and odds. Match markets focus on a single fixture, while tournament outrights let you back a team to progress through several rounds.
Yes. Sports betting is legal in South Africa when you use an online bookmaker licensed by a South African provincial gambling board. You must also be 18 or older.
There’s no major difference in how the betting works. Futsal uses many of the same markets as traditional soccer, including Match Winner, handicaps, totals, and outrights.
A handicap gives one team a virtual advantage or deficit. Back -1.5, and your team needs to win by at least two goals. Back +1.5, and your bet still wins even if they win, draw, or lose by one goal. Handicap bets usually have better futsal betting and odds compared to moneyline wagers.
It’s a bet on whether the total number of goals will be above or below a specific number.
